Testimony of Julie Veldemanabry

Read the testimonial from Julie, DELF DALF and TCF project manager, and teacher at ILCF!

What's your background?

I'm a lawyer by training, and for personal reasons I switched to FLE in 2000. Since then, I've been working as a teacher, which I've come to know and appreciate. This year, I've decided to change direction and apply for a part-time position as a DELF DALF and TCF exam coordinator, which will enable me to discover a new mission while keeping my 50% teaching job.

What are your missions?

Alongside the courses I give at the ILCF and other Ucly units, I have to organize 4 DELF DALF exam sessions and 2 TCF exam sessions, i.e. manage all the logistics:

  • with the referent organization (France Education International), which supervises the organization and delivers the subjects according to a predefined timetable
  • with the candidates, from registration through to dispatch of the diploma,
  • with the grading examiners,
  • with invigilators, Ucly departments (general resources, IT, room management, HR)

How are the exams organized?

It's quite complex: it requires a great deal of organization beforehand, but also responsiveness, as you have to keep to a very precise schedule and the subjects are delivered a week before the exams. Fortunately, I'm very well supported by my colleagues on the ILCF's administrative team, and I've been able to benefit from excellent tutoring with Emmanuelle ERRE, who previously held this position, and by the team of examiners and graders, who show real flexibility and efficiency during exam sessions.

What do you appreciate about your profession?

The human contact, the little stars in the eyes and the smiles on the faces of the learners when they have progressed and improved their command of the French language.

A good memory from your ILCF experience?

There are many: moments of conviviality between colleagues, but also with students, pedagogical training, experiences of sharing between colleagues…
