Testimonial of Lauryne Faqui

Cultural Mediator for the ILCF

This summer, a UCLy student is assisting the cultural activities team. Meet Lauryne Faqui and discover her motivations and projects that brought her to work at our institute.

Can you present yourself please?

My name is Lauryne and I'm a student in my 3rd year of a Bachelor's degree in Education and Training at UCLy. I first did the DU PaRéO (“diplôme universitaire Parcours pour Réussir et s'Orienter” - university diploma for success and orientation) here at UCLy and have never left since!

What is your role at the ILCF ?

I'm working this summer as a cultural mediator alongside Nastassia. I've been working with the ILCF every summer since I started my studies at UCLy, so it's been three years this year. I started out as an administrative assistant in the secretariat, then slowly began to integrate into the animation team.

Why have you decided to come back and work here for the summer?

I really enjoy working at the ILCF because it puts me in contact with students, which I find very enriching. What I particularly appreciate is the intercultural aspect: welcoming people of all nationalities and being able to exchange ideas with them is a unique experience.

The team is friendly and I always feel welcome, and the students are lovely and highly motivated, which makes the work even more enjoyable. It's for all these reasons that I come back every summer.

What do you like most about being an animator?

What I enjoy most about working as an animator is the richness of intercultural exchanges and the diversity of the audiences I work with. Offering activities that enable students to discover French culture is particularly gratifying, especially when I can observe their wonder and curiosity about these new experiences.

It's also a real source of personal enrichment. It enables me to deepen my knowledge of my own country, develop a variety of professional skills, and boost my self-confidence, especially by improving my language skills and overcoming my shyness.

What can you tell us about your future projects?

I'm still young and my mind is full of projects. So I'm not quite sure what my future holds, but one thing's for sure: I intend to explore everything the world has to offer.
