Description
Courses are oriented towards the development of oral and written expression and comprehension skills. Achievement of autonomy in the use of French requires the acquisition of grammar, vocabulary and specific aspects of French culture. A variety of linguistic activities are offered to students and involve the use of specific methods, exercise books and real-life documents: press, adverts, cartoons, written texts, videos… The courses require students to participate on an active basis.

This programme is aimed at all international students including adults, technicians and researchers… regardless of their level of French, who wish to:
acquire and improve their skills in spoken and written French and/or prepare for DELF and DALF examinations.
Levels
The ILCF teaches students in groups (of 18 to 24 students) according to their level:
Complete beginner > A1 Breakthrough > A2 Waystage > B1 Threshold > B2 Vantage > C1 Effective Operational Proficiency > C2 Mastery
Cultural Activities
At ILCF Lyon, learning French continues far beyond the classroom. Our cultural activities department supports students throughout their stay with a tailor-made program of activities adapted to the duration and type of course attended.
Language exchange meetings with French students, activities on campus, cultural visits, trips, workshops and tasting sessions: a wide range of activities is organised every month to encourage the discovery of French culture, social interaction and the practice of French in authentic and friendly situations.
These activities are an integral part of the ILCF experience and allow students to discover Lyon and its region while developing their language skills in a real-life environment.
Course length
1 to 3 months
60 hours over 4 weeks: June
80 hours over 4 weeks: July or August
The courses are taught on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in the mornings and/or afternoons. Wednesdays are set aside for cultural activities and outings organised by the coordinators. Some cultural activities are also held in the evening.
Level tests
The CLCF intensive summer program is organised according to students’ individual levels.
On the first day of each session, students are required to take a test to evaluate their oral and written skills, so that they can be allocated to the correct group.
CLCF – Certificate in French Language and Culture
The CLCF is a Certificate in French Language and Culture aligned with the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
This certificate corresponds to a programme of 60 to 80 hours, depending on the month.
Assessment Methods
- Be enrolled at ILCF in the intensive summer programme (June, July or August) or in a monthly course.
- Complete continuous assessment.
- Achieve a minimum average score of 10/20 in continuous assessment.
- Maintain regular attendance.
Credit Recognition
June: 8 ECTS credits per month
July or August: 9 ECTS credits per month
