Discover Lyon, share experiences, and experience French culture in everyday life

At ILCF Lyon, cultural activities are an integral part of the international student experience.

Throughout the year, students take part in excursions, social gatherings, events, and cultural discoveries that allow them to explore Lyon, its region, and French culture in a welcoming and intercultural environment.

Discover Lyon and Its Heritage

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lyon offers international students a unique opportunity to discover French history, heritage, and culture.

Throughout the year, guided visits provide opportunities to explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Vieux Lyon and its traboules, Fourvière Hill, Les Halles Paul Bocuse, the Lyon Opera House, the city's museums, and the historic districts that shape Lyon’s identity.

Through these cultural outings, students also discover Lyon’s way of life, local gastronomy, and the major cultural events that animate the city throughout the year.

Discover French Culture in a Different Way

La Bulle: A Space for Meeting and Sharing

La Bulle is a dedicated space for ILCF international students located on UCLy’s Carnot Campus.

Designed as a welcoming social space, it gives students the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, study, or take part in the many cultural activities organized throughout the year.

Intercultural Encounters and Exchanges

Cultural activities are also designed as opportunities for international students, French students, and members of the local community to meet and share experiences.

Language exchanges, international dinners, student gatherings, and activities organized in partnership with UCLy’s various faculties allow learners to practice French in real-life situations while discovering other cultures.

Excursions and Regional Discoveries

Located in the heart of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Lyon is an ideal starting point for discovering a wide variety of French landscapes, traditions, and destinations.

Throughout the year, students can take part in cultural excursions that introduce them to other cities, heritage sites, and regional specialties.

Student Life Connected to the Wider UCLy Community

ILCF students also take part in the many events organized across UCLy through initiatives led by the Mission Culture, the International Office, and the university’s various student associations.

This openness allows learners to fully engage in the student and cultural life of UCLy and the city of Lyon.
