And what if we celebrated the New Year in March?
On Thursday, March 20th, the ILCF celebrated Nowroz, the Persian New Year, in the hall of the Carnot campus.
In many countries across Western Asia, the beginning of spring symbolizes renewal — full of hope, life, and new opportunities. It's the perfect time to start a new year.
Nowroz, which means "new day" in Persian, marks this transition with joy, tradition, and vibrant colors. For the occasion, Iranian students from the ILCF invited the entire UCLy community to discover this iconic celebration.
The event featured a presentation about the holiday, a tasting of Persian desserts, symbolic decorations including the Haft Sin display, live music, and a traditional dance — all coming together to welcome the spring season in style.
It was a joyful moment for them and a beautiful discovery for us. Let our photos offer you an immersive glimpse into this festive celebration! A heartfelt thank you to the Iranian members of the ILCF Student Union for this wonderful cultural moment that brought life and color to the campus hall.
