French Language and Culture Institute

These courses are for international students, adults, technicians, researchers... of all levels in French language who want:
- to obtain and develop oral and written abilities in French
- and/or to prepare for the DELF and the DALF exams.Levels
The ILCF welcomes students in groups (from 18 to 24 students) corresponding to their level:
Complete beginner > A1 Breakthrough > A2 Waystage > B1 Threshold > B2 Vantage > C1 Effective Operational Proficiency > C2 Mastery
Teaching methods
Courses are created to help develop oral and written expression and comprehension abilities. The goal is an effective autonomy in using French by learning grammar, vocabulary and French culture. Diverse language activities are offered including exercise workbooks, exercise books and original documents (press, advertising, comics, literature, videos, etc.). Integrative excursions allow students to get to know the City of Lyon (markets, train stations, cafes, librairies and neighborhood visits, francophone week). Courses require the active participation of students.
Organization
This intensive program is composed of 20 hours per week. Courses take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in the morning or in the afternoon. Workshops take place in the evenings and on Wednesdays.
Beginner to B1+ levels:
16 hours of courses + two, two-hour Culture and Civilization units.
B2 to C2 levels:
Option 1:
14 hours of courses + one, six-hour long French Discovery Unit (see pages 10-11)
Option 2:
14 hours of courses + 1 specialized French program + one, two-hour Culture and Civilization course from the Culture and Civilization unit Duration
1st semester: 260 hours from October to January.
2nd semester: 260 hours from February to May.

A week before each session, we organize a mandatory test to evaluate your written and oral proficiency in French so that we can place you in the appropriate level group.
Diplomas
A DULCF (French Language and Culture University Diploma) corresponding to your language level is provided at the end of the program. The Insitute also offers the opportunity to pass the following exams according to the exams timetable: DELF, DALF, TCF, DFA1, DFA2, CFTH, during your studies in the ILCF.University credits
